February 29, 2024 (Baltimore) Maryland Auto Insurance is proud to support and participate in a series of Risk Management and Insurance Career Day Fairs hosted by the Business Studies Department and Business Club of Community College of Baltimore County.

These informational fairs are intended to educate future and current college students about the benefits and opportunities available through a career in the insurance industry. In addition to the claims, sales, and underwriting roles often associated with insurance, the industry offers career paths in the fields of information technology, data analytics, human resources, legal, finance and accounting, communications, and more.

Professionals from various insurance companies and specialties in the industry will be on hand to answer question from career fair attendees. Several participating organizations will also schedule on-site interviews for interns and career positions. Interviews will begin at noon, following each fair session.

The sessions will be held at CCBC’s Essex and Catonsville campuses in March.

BusinessInsurance.com recently published a review of a study of Bureau of Labor statistics on employee tenure. According to the article, the insurance industry’s median tenure of 5.5 years, “is among the highest in both the private and public sector occupations.”

Career opportunities in the industry expand beyond the more well-known roles of sales/insurance agent, claim adjuster, and underwriting professionals. “My career in the insurance industry has taken me from agent to agency owner to two-time Maryland Insurance Commissioner, and now Executive Director of Maryland Auto. The industry has provided me with an enormous amount of opportunity and career stability – and it can do the same for anyone starting their career or looking for a career path. No matter your area of interest or skillset, there are unlimited opportunities in the world of insurance. You can work in legal, claims, information technology, human resources, data analytics, sales, marketing, communications, or operations just to name a few,” said Maryland Auto Executive Director Al Redmer, Jr.

The CCBC Risk Management and Insurance Career Days are open to CCBC students and the extended community.

Members of the insurance community who are interested in participating in the event and speaking with attendees about their career field in the industry are welcome. To volunteer, complete this form.
