Who is Maryland Auto?
Maryland Auto Insurance was created by the State of Maryland to provide insurance for Maryland drivers who are having difficulty obtaining coverage in the standard market.
Our mission is to reduce the number of uninsured drivers on Maryland roads by making insurance available to all eligible drivers. We also have a responsibility to educate Marylanders on the insurance requirements in the state and the risks of driving without insurance.
For nearly 50 years, we have been helping Maryland drivers get the coverage they need to stay on the road to a better life.
How Can We Help?
As part of our mission, Maryland Auto guarantees the State’s minimum required coverage levels for all eligible drivers. When Marylanders are insured and able to drive, they have access to more employment and economic opportunities in our state.
Driving without insurance is illegal, and expensive! Penalties accumulate at a rate of $150 for the first month, then $7 per day every day after. Over the course of a year, uninsured drivers can add up to $2,500 – per uninsured vehicle! Maryland Auto can help drivers avoid these penalties.
If a participant in your program has had their insurance policy canceled or has been denied coverage by two or more insurance companies, Maryland Auto will insure them. Guaranteed.
Or, if they prefer assistance with their insurance policy, Maryland Auto has a state-wide network of authorized providers who can advise them of their coverage and payment options.
